Keywords and Writing SEO Content

Welcome to another post of Internet Wealth Builder! This post will focus on the SEO concepts I’ve learned from the book “Year Of The Affiliate” , primarily on Keywords and keyword positioning for an SEO-friendly blogpost.

SEO-Friendly Content

Keywords - from YOTAWhen writing a blog or a web page, the first thing that you need to think about is the SEO side of things. The content has to be such that the search engine will be able to pick it up and display as high as possible in its search results. Here are some tips on how to SEO your content:

Choosing Keywords

Choose a specific Keyword for your blogpost or web page. This may be in a form of a phrase or a single word. This helps you with having a targeted focus for the search engines to pick up your website for a certain search. You can choose from having a broad keyword like for example health, fitness, wealth, business, or you can choose to use what is called as a longtail keyword, which in essence is a keyword that is drilled down from a broad keyword. Examples of a longtail keyword would be for fitness, you might instead drill down to a specific area in fitness like equipment, which could be a treadmill, and then drill down to the type and brand of treadmill – “Basic Nordic Treadmill”.

There are pros and cons with using a broad keyword and a longtail keyword. A broad keyword would enable you to target a much broader audience, hence, a wider and bigger market to spread your word. However, the competition may be very stiff, and this makes it difficult for you to get good rankings with the search engines, despite having done all the things you can do to search-engine optimise your site.

A longtail keyword, however, can limit your market to that specific phrase that you’re intending to use. It can be both a good thing and a bad thing, depending on how big a market is for a specific longtail keyword. If there is a huge demand for a longtail keyword, but not much competition, then chance are you will have a better ranking from the search engines.

Keyword Density

Ideally you’d like to have your keywords appear as many times as possible on your blog or your page so that the search engines would treat your page or blog with higher relevance. However, you have to be careful not to overdo this because search engines do filter out spam, and by having excessively used your keywords on your blog or page, you will raise the red flag with the search engines. They will consider your site “spammy” and you’d end up being discredited by the search engines.

The ideal recommended number for keyword density is 3% to 5%. Anything less than 3% is probably too few for the search engines to consider your blog or site for relevance on those keywords. More than 5% is spammy, as mentioned above. In case you don’t know how to calculate keyword density, it’s the number of times your keyword appears on your blog, divided by the total number of words on your blog or page.

Keyword in Titles and Headings

Ensure that you have your keyword on the title of your blog or page. This is important, as the search engines do consider the relevance based on the title of the blog or page. Ensure that you also use the Headings1 (H1) or Headings2 (H2) for your subject headings, and include the keywords there. This again will help the search engines determine its relevance.

Bolding and Italics of Keywords

An extra handy trick for SEO is to bold your keyword at least once and also italicise your keyword once. This will enable the search engines to further identify that the topic of discussion on your blog or page is pertaining to those keywords you have picked. One recommendation that I can give you is to try and set to bold a keyword in one paragraph, and italicise a keyword on another paragraph. That way, the search engines won’t think that you’re also being spammy.

Keywords in Image Description

Image description is something that people neglect to do in many cases, but is very handy in terms of helping with your SEO rankings. Simply put in your keywords as part of your image description, and this will help you with building relevance to your blogpost and page as well.

Meta Tags and Categories

If you’re blogging, ensure that you put in your keywords in the meta-tag and categories, as these also help in building relevance with the search engines. Some people may argue on this point as being outdated, but it doesn’t hurt to include your keywords to add an extra item that could still be used to build relevance to the search engines.

Internal Links

Ensure that you put in some internal links on your blog or page. Internal links mean that you put a link to one of your other pages or older blogposts onto the page or blog that you’re writing, as this will help with the search engine spiders to determine that your content is associated with an existing relevant and trusted content.

These topics are covered in much more depth in the book “Year Of The Affiliate“, but I hope this gives you an idea on what you can do to ensure that your blog gets noticed by the search engines, and would result to better readership and traffic.

Blogging on Your Passions

Welcome to yet another exciting post for Internet Wealth Builder! This week, I will be focusing on blogging and how to go about it.

Blogging Your Passions

PassionI mentioned in one of my previous post that there is a way for you to make money with blogging. This is making money without using relying on AdWords and advertising on your blogs. Blogs are a great way to generate traffic to your other sites, as long as you know how to do it. A great more detail is mentioned in the book “Year Of The Affiliate” by my mentor Sean Rasmussen.

The one big question that some newcomers to internet marketing have in their minds is, what do I blog about? I don’t know what to write about and to share to the rest of the world! All the more, what do I write about that would enable me to make money in the first place? First of all, when you start out in internet marketing, don’t worry about the money yet. The money will come once you have learned and established yourself. I learned this when I started out. I was chasing the money and trying to find what area is hot at the moment, even if I don’t have a single clue what it’s about. I realised that this was not the right approach, that I can never convince someone to buy something from me on an item that I don’t know about! Though making money is indeed the name of the game here, you need to set some basic things straight if you are to succeed in whatever you do.

First of all, you need to have a passion for something to be able for you to succeed. This goes with your blogs. Each and every one of us must have something that we are passionate about, be it music, cars, travel, our jobs, horses, or whatever you are interested in. There is no limit to what you can be passionate about, but just ensure that it is something tasteful and something that you think a lot of people in this world would be able to share with you. That way, you will be able to express yourself much better, and it will be much easier for you to talk about the subject and be very confident about it.

Building Trust Through Blogging

TrustBlogging about a passion is also great in the sense that you are able to share to others what you know in the subject, and other people can learn from it. It is through this that people will find value, and this will eventually lead to a relationship-building process. If people find great value with what you are blogging, they are most likely going to follow your blog, and they will most likely be interested in the other things that you do. The other things may mean your other sites which would sell products (whether associated to your subject or not). These people who follow your blog would have a greater propensity to purchase from you because you would have built the trust with them, and hence they know that you are an honest person, someone that they can rely on.

This is one very important thing I learned from Sean’s book “Year Of The Affiliate“  when I first started out. Not only did my journey into the internet marketing world become so much more enjoyable, it brought out the best in me, which is my capacity to share to the world and inspire others with my thoughts and with my past experiences through my blog. I truly encourage you to seek out what it is that you’re passionate about in life and share it with the rest of the online world. That whole process will definitely lead you to building great relationships online, and will eventually lead to great sales and conversion rates.

I hope you enjoyed another great tip from Internet Wealth Builder!

To your many online successes!

Smart Online Profit Systems

ShaunAndSeanMy mentor, Sean Rasmussen, has recently teamed up with one of Australia’s (and arguably the world’s) top internet marketers, Shaun Stenning, to teach people about successful strategies to make money online. Sean and Shaun (or known as S1 and S2 to save from confusion) have been successful in generating massive income from internet marketing that they now run their own companies and work full-time as internet marketers. They both had to go through difficulty gathering all the information, and along the way, they have learned how to create an effective strategy to make money online.

They’ve come up with a seminar called Smart Online Profit Systems, which is designed to show people how easy it is to make money online without the huge investment. Plus, they teach people what to look out for and what to do to save them from all the mistakes these guys experienced before.

Smart Online Profit Systems ROCK!

I’ve been to the very first Smart Online Profit Systems event in Sydney as a volunteer, and I was blown away by what I learned! I’ve met a lot of people who have been amazed by the results that can be produced out of this system! Even if I’m already a student of Sean’s, I still continually get amazed by how much there is to profit from the internet, and the strategies they teach are not even that difficult at all! At the end of the first day of the seminar, we were challenged to do some of the strategies overnight to make money online by selling an e-book, and whoever gets the most sales will be rewarded. I did briefly work on the strategies that night, as I was already quite tired from volunteering, but still wanted to try it out. And guess what? I made a sale (and my first one at that)!  I was so amazed that I couldn’t believe how quick it all happened!

Shaun Stenning has now also become one of my mentors and is teaching me the techniques that he uses, and I have to say that this guy is such an inspiration! He has achieved what a lot of more mature adults have not achieved in their lifetime, and yet he is a very down-to-earth, easy going guy who wants to help people achieve great success in their lives. He has coached several guys already and have become very successful.

I’ve mainly been talking about affiliate marketing here on this blog, but there is more to learn from Shaun with regards to traffic trading and building databases of leads and auto-responder systems. I will be discussing them more as time goes on to share my knowledge with you. However, I highly recommend going to the Smart Online Profit Systems seminar, which should be going to Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. It is definitely worth it, and it will show you things that the rest of the world don’t teach you about making money on the internet!

I’ll leave you with a video from the very successful Perth event of Smart Online Profit Systems:

Blogging can make you money

Blogging – a lot of people blog for the sake of sharing their experiences and their passions to the rest of the world. Many of them blog without any intention of reaping any monetary rewards from it. Some may put some Google AdSense advertising and banners on the side, but this is not the main importance of their blog.

A lot of people have not discovered how they can effectively monetise their blogs. In the book “Year of the Affiliate“, I learned that there is a way to make money out of your blog apart from Google AdSense and those already-known income-generating strategies. Sure, you have to blog on something that you’re passionate about (otherwise you’d run out of things to say!), however, through your blog, you can also convince your readers to purchase some products that you’re using in relation to your topic. As such, you can sign up as an affiliate to a website that sells a product that you love, and you can blog about it and tell the world your wonderful experience of the product.

Through this strategy, readers will become convinced of your experience, and if they already trust you as a person, they may just buy the product. There is a technique on how you should blog in order to reap the benefits of monetising your product, and this is mentioned in the Year of the Affiliate book by Sean Rasmussen.

Sean is a mentor of mine, and he has proven the results of his strategy with his own personal journey from being an electrician 4 years ago to a full-time internet marketer. Sean maintains several blogs, of which he puts out his passion blog called Mindset Mastery. Through this, Sean was able to build his reputation online and built his internet marketing business as time went on.

So, find out what you’re most passionate about, and start blogging, then find an affiliate scheme to join! I wish you all the success in building your internet wealth!
